York House Wedding Photographer

If you’re looking for a wedding venue that feels elegant without being overly formal, the Winter Garden at York House in Twickenham is such a lovely choice. Tucked inside the beautiful historic York House right by the Thames, the space has this bright, airy feel thanks to its gorgeous glass ceiling and huge windows that flood the room with natural light. It instantly feels romantic, but still relaxed and welcoming — exactly the kind of atmosphere so many couples want on their wedding day.

The Winter Garden works especially well for smaller, more intimate weddings. It has that perfect balance of feeling special and stylish without ever seeming too large or overwhelming, which makes it ideal for couples who want a more personal celebration with their closest family and friends. A spacious but cosy ceremony room - the space feels warm, inviting and effortlessly romantic.

One of the loveliest parts of the venue is how easily guests can move between the Winter Garden and the surrounding gardens, especially on sunny days when everyone can enjoy a glass of fizz outside. It’s also a dream setting for photos, with elegant interiors, riverside views and the iconic York House gardens all right on your doorstep.

Sophie and Mark chose York House to host their gorgeous intimate ceremony in April, and the Winter Garden room really did not disappoint. Full of beautiful ivy and foliage, it’s a space that feels both modern and relaxed, whilst still feeling really special for a wedding day. Surrounded by a lovely group of their closest friends and family, they had such a thoughtful and personal ceremony, with acoustic singing by one friend and a heartfelt poem shared by another. It was relaxed, emotional and completely centred around the two of them, which suited them perfectly.

The weather was also surprisingly good for early April, so afterwards we happily headed outside for a confetti throw down the York House steps, followed by a champagne reception in the gardens. Everyone spent a lovely hour relaxing, catching up and enjoying the sunshine, which gave us plenty of time to capture some of those all-important family photos. We also managed to sneak away for a short wander through York House’s pretty gardens to take some relaxed portraits of the two of them amongst all the greenery and spring blossom.

The wedding party then moved over to The Watermans Arms, a lovely riverside pub in Barnes, to continue the celebrations. It was another really warm and inviting space, with the couple making use of the private dining room upstairs for a more relaxed and intimate atmosphere. More drinks flowed, guests settled in for the evening, and before long everyone was enjoying a really tasty meal together while the celebrations carried on into the afternoon.

York House really is such an amazing option for those couples wanting a slightly lower key, more intimate wedding but in a modern, light, stylish space.
