BEST WEDDING VENUES IN SURREY FOR NATURAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Surrey is one of my favourite counties to photograph weddings in. It's just over the border from my Hampshire base, the countryside is stunning, and there's an incredible range of venues — from sweeping Palladian mansions to cosy barns tucked into the Surrey Hills. I've been lucky enough to photograph weddings at some of the most beautiful spots in the county, and I get asked all the time by couples which Surrey venues I'd recommend. So here are my favourites, from a photographer's perspective.

BOTLEYS MANSION, CHERTSEY

If you want the wow factor, Botleys Mansion delivers it in spades. This grand Palladian mansion sits at the end of a long sweeping driveway, surrounded by 56 acres of rolling parkland, and it's exclusively yours for the day. The moment you arrive and see the fountain and the stone staircase, you know it's going to be special.

From a photography point of view, I love the variety here. The glass-roofed Atrium floods with the most gorgeous natural light — it's a dream for ceremony and reception shots. The Green Room is more intimate with soft pastel tones and golden chandeliers, and the front steps and parkland give you classic, timeless couple portraits. It's the kind of venue where you barely need to try — the building does the work for you.

Botleys is about 30 minutes from London and feels grand without being stuffy. It suits couples who want elegance and glamour but still want the day to feel relaxed and fun.

NORTHBROOK PARK, FARNHAM

Northbrook Park sits right on the Hampshire-Surrey border near Farnham, and it's one of those venues that just works beautifully. The Vine Room is the main ceremony space — a gorgeous room with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in the most incredible light. I could photograph ceremonies in that room all day.

The grounds are really special too. There's a walled garden with the most amazing peacocks (yes, actual peacocks wandering around your drinks reception), a lake, and over 120 acres of parkland for couple portraits. The Orangery is a stunning space for larger receptions, and there's a lovely mix of formal and relaxed areas that give you loads of variety throughout the day.

It's a Grade II listed venue with real character, and the team there are wonderful. If you're looking for a country house wedding with beautiful grounds and fantastic natural light, Northbrook Park is hard to beat.

BURY COURT BARN, BENTLEY

Bury Court Barn is a real hidden gem on the Hampshire-Surrey border. It's part of a 30-acre estate with the most extraordinary gardens — designed by the legendary Piet Oudolf, who designed the High Line in New York. So the planting is genuinely world-class, which means your couple portraits have a backdrop that no other venue in the south of England can match.

The barn itself is a beautiful oak-framed space — warm, rustic, and full of character without being rough around the edges. The bridal suite in the Oast House is gorgeous for getting-ready photos, and there are 15 bedrooms on site so you can make a proper weekend of it.

What I love about Bury Court from a photography perspective is the gardens. Every season looks completely different — dramatic grasses in autumn, wildflower meadows in summer — and the light filtering through the planting creates the most beautiful, painterly quality in photos. It's a venue where the photography almost takes care of itself.

OTHER SURREY VENUES I LOVE

There are so many gorgeous venues across Surrey that I haven't had the chance to photograph at yet but would love to. A few that are on my list:

Farnham Castle — an incredible medieval castle near the Surrey-Hampshire border with centuries of history, sweeping grounds, and the most dramatic Great Hall. It's one of the most prestigious wedding venues in the south of England and I'd love the chance to shoot there.

Cain Manor — a charming country house tucked away in woodland near Farnham, run by the same team as Botleys Mansion. It's more intimate and cosy than Botleys but with that same attention to detail and beautiful light.

Loseley Park — a stunning Elizabethan manor house near Guildford set in gorgeous grounds with a walled garden. The period features and natural light would be incredible to work with.

Gate Street Barn — a beautiful barn venue in the Surrey Hills with countryside views and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for couples who want rustic charm without sacrificing comfort.

If you're getting married at any of these venues — or anywhere else in Surrey — I'd love to hear from you.
