How much does a wedding photographer cost?

Maddie Waters Photography wedding packages start at £2,500 for full day coverage from prep to dancing, including a minimum of 400+ professionally edited images. Destination wedding coverage starts at £3,350 including expenses. Shorter coverage for intimate celebrations is also available on request.

What is your photography style?

Maddie's style is natural, relaxed and romantic. She focuses on capturing genuine moments as they unfold — nothing too posed or forced. Her images have a soft, light quality with a mix of candid documentary shots and polished couple portraits. She also shoots artistic black and white images throughout the day.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! Maddie is based in Hampshire but regularly photographs weddings across the South of England including Dorset, Surrey, Sussex, Wiltshire and Berkshire. She also loves destination weddings in Europe and beyond — see her destination brochure for details.

How many photos will I receive?

You will receive a minimum of 400+ professionally edited images from your wedding day. All images are edited in Maddie's signature soft, light style with a selection of artistic black and white images included. A sneak peek gallery is delivered within one week of your wedding.

Do you offer a second photographer?

Yes, Maddie can arrange a second photographer for your wedding day if you'd like additional coverage, particularly for groom or partner prep in the morning. She works with a trusted group of colleagues who complement her style perfectly.

Yes, Maddie is fully insured with both public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance. All camera gear is also insured separately. She always carries backup cameras, memory cards, flashes and batteries to every wedding.

What happens if it rains on my wedding day?

Rain very rarely lasts all day! Maddie checks the hourly forecast on the morning of your wedding and can work around the weather. If outdoor photos aren't possible, she embraces the vibe and can use flash for beautiful editorial-style images indoors.

Mapperton is the kind of venue that takes your breath away. Hidden in a valley in the West Dorset hills, it's this incredible Jacobean manor house with the most spectacular terraced gardens cascading down below it — fountains, topiary, Italianate borders, wildflower meadows — all completely unspoilt and utterly romantic. It was voted the finest manor house in England by Country Life magazine, and honestly, I can see why. There's nowhere else quite like it.

Mapperton House is nestled in the rolling countryside near Beaminster in West Dorset. The estate is home to the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, and that sense of it being a real family home — rather than a commercial venue — gives the whole place a warmth and authenticity that you just can't manufacture. It's exclusive use, so the gardens, grounds, Orangery and Coach House are entirely yours on the day. For ceremonies, you can choose from the Garden Pavilion with the house as your backdrop, the atmospheric grottoes, or even the medieval church on the estate. Drinks and canapés happen outside the beautiful Orangery overlooking the Italianate gardens, and dinner and dancing take place in the Coach House — a stunning 17th-century barn that's been beautifully restored with exposed stonework, original beams, and full-height ceilings, seating up to 120. There's a luxury three-bedroom Garden Cottage and a Keepers Cottage included for the wedding party, with two nights' accommodation as standard so you can really settle in and enjoy it.

As a Mapperton House wedding photographer, I am completely spoilt for choice with this venue. The gardens are genuinely some of the most beautiful I've ever worked in — they descend on three levels from the croquet lawn through the fountain courtyard down into the arboretum and wild garden. Every turn reveals a new backdrop, a new texture, a new pocket of gorgeous light. The Orangery terrace looking out across the valley is stunning for portraits, and the wild garden at the bottom has this romantic, overgrown quality that I absolutely love. Because Mapperton isn't a high-volume venue, there's a peacefulness to the whole day that really comes through in the photos — no rush, no interruptions, just you and your people in this extraordinary setting.

There is lots of flexibility when getting married at Mapperton, with ceremonies able to take place both inside the Coach House and outside in either the Walled Garden or out on the lawn. Plenty of space for a wedding marquee or tent for the larger wedding receptions, Mapperton really can tailor to all. They also have two pretty cottages onsite, perfect for bridal and groom preparations.

I love working in Dorset, and Mapperton is one of my favourite spots thanks to it's stunning gardens and beautiful stone buildings (not to mention the stunning views of the rolling countryside!). Claire and Will had such a wonderful day, in the glorious sunshine, surrounded by an abundance of friends and family. Claire wore a Rosa Cl a ra dress, with make up by Lee O'D and hair by Kelly Williams. The ceremony was down in the sunken garden, and the drinks reception was up on the middle lawn surrounded by the gorgeous gardens and trees. We did confetti to the side of the house on the big top lawn, and then everyone moved into the barn for the dinner reception and party!

Mapperton is truly special because it feels undiscovered. It's not on every wedding Pinterest board. Couples who choose it tend to have found it because they were looking for something different — somewhere with real character, real history, and real beauty rather than a polished package. That shows in the weddings I photograph here — they're always personal, thoughtful, and full of personality. And the Dorset countryside around it is just gorgeous.
